What we do

5giveaways is a meeting point. Stores list prizes, players enter, and we run the draw. We never hold, buy or ship a prize, and we take no cut of anything.

5giveaways is a DevHub project (devhub.gg). Every prize comes from the store that listed it, which provides it and answers for it. Using the site means accepting these terms and the privacy notice; entering a giveaway, or joining one as a store, records the moment you accepted them. Each giveaway also freezes its own rules page before entries open, and that page governs the giveaway itself.

Your account

Signing in with Discord is the only way in. We store your Discord id, username, avatar and the servers relevant to a giveaway you entered. There is no email address anywhere in the product.

You must be 18 or over to enter. One account per person: a second account is grounds for exclusion, and what happens through your Discord account is your responsibility. You can delete your account at any time; the privacy notice says exactly what that does.

Entering

  • Entry is free. Nothing is ever bought, sold or paid for, here or anywhere else, to enter or to hold a ticket.
  • One entry per person per giveaway. That entry holds one ticket for each store server in the giveaway you are in, so somebody in none of them holds no tickets and cannot win.
  • Winners come from the published draw method; a voided draw is listed with its reason on the proof page of that giveaway.
  • If you win, your Discord ID, username and avatar may be shown publicly as a winner, on this site and in the announcement posted to the Discord servers of the stores in that giveaway. Nothing else about you is published.
  • A prize is not money and has no cash alternative. Taxes, where any apply to you, are yours; we withhold nothing.
  • You collect as the winning account, within the window stated on the giveaway, by opening a ticket in that store's Discord.

Stores

A store is approved by hand and can be suspended by hand. Listing a prize you do not intend to hand over is the fastest way off the platform.

Joining a giveaway means the store provides:

  • A prize it owns and can hand over, listed with the number of people who win it, and described as what the winner actually receives.
  • A Discord webhook for the channel the giveaway posts in, on a server the store owns. It is stored encrypted and never shown again, and both the webhook and the channel must keep working through the giveaway.
  • A ticket route in that Discord that someone who has just joined can reach, and the prize itself when a winner opens one.

One place per store, per owner and per Discord server, per giveaway; running several stores does not earn several places. Nobody is charged to join, and a place is never sold for server joins. A store can leave before entries open; after that the list of stores is fixed. Staff of a store cannot enter a giveaway that store is in. A private giveaway holds the host and up to two other stores. Inflated or purchased member counts, or misrepresenting the store or the prize, cost the place: a removal carries a public reason and is decided by a person.

By joining, a store lets us show its name, logo and link on the giveaway page, in the generated banner and in the announcement posted to the stores' Discord servers, for as long as the giveaway and its archive exist. Store names, logos and marks stay their owners'; the site, its code and its design stay ours.

Prizes

The store that listed a prize owns the handover. If a store goes quiet, report it and we redraw or remove the store.

We do not replace a prize ourselves. A store that does not deliver is recorded and can be barred from joining giveaways.

Acceptable use

Do not automate or script any part of this site, probe or bypass its rate limits, sign-in or draw, enter through several accounts or through people acting for you, impersonate a store, an admin or the platform, post unlawful or abusive content in any field, or scrape the site for a competing service. The public proof pages are open and machine-readable; reading them at a reasonable rate is fine.

Suspension

We may exclude an entry, suspend an account or bar a store from joining giveaways where these terms are broken. A public decision, such as a store removed from a giveaway or a cancelled giveaway, is published with its reason. Every decision is recorded with a reason, and you can ask for it, or appeal, through the report form.

Changes

A giveaway can be edited until it goes live. After that only the admin team can cancel it, and a cancelled giveaway is marked as cancelled rather than deleted.

We can update this page; the date at the top is the current version. A change does not reach a giveaway that is already live: that giveaway keeps the rules frozen on its own rules page before entries opened.

Liability

We are responsible for running the draw as published and for telling the winner which store owes them which prize. We do not fund, hold, promise or guarantee any prize: the store that listed it does. We are not responsible for what happens on a third-party service: how a Discord server is moderated, whether a store honours its prize, or how it handles a ticket. The site is provided as it is, without a service level commitment.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude liability for indirect and consequential losses, for lost profits or goodwill, and for the conduct of any store, entrant or Discord server; where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the value of the prize concerned. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of the country in which DevHub, the operator of 5giveaways, is established, and the courts of that place have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your own country of residence.

Before anything else, tell us. The report form reaches a person and works signed out.
